1. On which devices and in which departments have you used MUSICA Xpert?

We tested MUSICA Xpert on the DR 600 digital X-ray system in the Radiology Department and on the DR 100e mobile unit in the Intensive Care Unit, and the new post-processing system was integrated seamlessly into our existing workflows.

2. Where have you noticed the greatest improvements thanks to MUSICA Xpert? 

The most significant improvement lies in the enhanced contrast, for example in fracture diagnosis, where bony structures are highlighted more clearly without overlap; this also applies to examinations of the trunk. Together with SmartXR, we are able to reduce the need for repeat images.

3. Does the greater variety of options provide added value? 

Yes, the ability to choose between different algorithms allows for better fine-tuning. Our thoracic protocol, set to ‘Soft’, prioritises the visualisation of soft tissues and the lungs, whilst for the musculoskeletal (MSK) protocols we have configured a combination of ‘Base’ for the peripheral extremities and ‘Crisp’ for the larger bony structures. This enables us to achieve an optimal balance across all images between noise reduction in soft tissue structures and high levels of detail.

4. Which settings did you choose and why?

We have primarily chosen MUSICA Xpert Chest Soft for thoracic investigations and MUSICA Xpert Skeleton Base / Crisp for musculoskeletal investigations.

5. Would you extend the use of MUSICA Xpert across your entire department?

We can well imagine implementing the new post-processing algorithms in all the radiology departments at our hospital.
