Transforming Radiography Services at NHS Lothian with Agfa’s DR 600 X-ray room

Modern imaging departments need technology that not only delivers exceptional image quality but also supports staff efficiency and patient care. At NHS Lothian’s Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, the transition from aging CR technology to Agfa’s DR 600 has helped achieve exactly that.

Facing challenges with equipment more than a decade old, declining image quality, and increasingly demanding workflows, the department sought a solution that would modernize operations while enhancing the experience for both staff and patients.

Today, Agfa’s DR 600 is helping the team streamline workflows, improve throughput, and consistently produce high-quality diagnostic images powered by Agfa’s MUSICA image processing technology.

“Agfa’s DR600 has transformed both the look and performance of our imaging room. We can manage patients more efficiently while consistently producing excellent-quality images with outstanding detail through MUSICA processing. Staff enjoy using the Agfa equipment, particularly the motorized assistance and streamlined DR workflow.   A successful technology deployment goes beyond equipment. From installation planning and training to ongoing application and engineering support, our teams work closely with our healthcare provider Synapse Medical to ensure a smooth transition and long-term success,”  says Alison Rodger, Team Lead Radiographer – NHS Lothian – Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

We’re proud our DR 600 X-ray room supports NHS Lothian in their modernization journey and help radiology teams deliver efficient, high-quality patient care every day.  And we thank our partner Synapse Medical for their contribution and support.
