DR 800: The new era of diagnostic imaging arrives in Entre Ríos, Argentina
The Concordia Diagnostic Institute incorporated the DR 800 from Agfa Radiology Solutions, a multipurpose digital radiology solution that improves accuracy, speed, and comfort in fluoroscopic studies. The alliance between Agfa and Dimed was key to achieving this technological leap in the country’s interior.
With more than half a century of presence in Argentina, Agfa Radiology Solutions continues to consolidate its position as a key player in the diagnostic imaging sector. Its commitment to technological innovation and quality of service has been essential to maintaining its leadership, especially through a solid network of distributors like Dimed, which supports the brand’s growth throughout the country.
The recent incorporation of the DR 800 system at the Diagnostic Institute, located in Concordia, Entre Ríos, is a clear reflection of this synergy. This technological advancement not only marks a milestone for the medical center but also represents a significant improvement in patient care in the region.
Agfa Radiology Solutions has had a subsidiary in Argentina for more than five decades, allowing it to offer direct commercial, administrative, and technical support.
This local presence has been key to driving the adoption of new diagnostic imaging technologies, especially in the interior of the country. Flavia Ferrante, the company’s sales leader, highlights the importance of this proximity to healthcare centers and the collaborative work with its strategic partners.
One of these partners is Dimed, Agfa’s official distributor in Argentina with more than 40 years of experience. According to Lucas Seta, its representative, the relationship with Agfa Radiology Solutions is based on three pillars: commitment, communication, and credibility.
This alliance has facilitated the implementation of innovative solutions throughout the country, supporting medical centers in their technological evolution from manual development systems to the most advanced digital platforms, such as the DR 800.
The Diagnostic Institute is a clear example of this evolution. Dr. María Belén Gini, a diagnostic imaging specialist at the center, explained that the decision to incorporate the DR 800 responded to the growing demand for fluoroscopic studies, driven by the arrival of new specialists in areas such as fertility. “We are one of the few centers in greater precision and speed,” she stated.
The main benefits of the DR 800 include improved image quality—key for pediatric or larger patients—, faster study speed, improved patient comfort, and the possibility of performing new diagnostic procedures, such as complex contrast studies, dynamic swallowing analysis, and general radiographic images using pulsed, continuous, and rapid sequence fluoroscopy. Dr. María Belén Gini (Diagnostic Institute) emphasizes: “At our center, we perform low- and high-complexity studies and have always relied on Agfa technology.
The decision to incorporate the DR 800 arose from the need to strengthen our fluoroscopy capabilities. We are one of the few centers in the region that performs this type of study, and demand has grown with the arrival of fertility specialists and other specialists. This equipment allows us to offer contrast-enhanced studies with greater precision and speed, which is essential considering that the nearest center with these capabilities is 200 km away.
In addition to the immediate impact on clinical practice, Dr. María Belén Gini emphasizes the future potential this equipment represents for the institution: “We are proud to be able to offer a service with cutting-edge technology. We are still exploring all its features, but this is undoubtedly just the beginning of a new era for the Diagnostic Institute.”
The incorporation of the DR 800 at the Concordia Diagnostic Institute represents a qualitative leap in medical care in the region, strengthening its capacity for fluoroscopic studies with greater precision, speed, and comfort for patients.
